QUINCY -- Rebuilding the Fraser Log Cabin in the Log Cabin Village on Quinsippi Island will be featured on an episode of "Illinois Stories" that will air starting Thursday, July 9.
The episode is set to air on PBS affiliate WQEC at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 10, and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 15.
Host Mark McDonald interviewed John Gebhardt, president of Friends of the Log Cabins, Helaman Haynie, the contractor who rebuilt the cabin, and Dan Conboy, Friends of the Log Cabins board member, in the episode.
The cabin was disassembled and placed in storage in 2017 as the organization raised funds for the restoration. The work included raising the cabin above the 100-year flood level.
Built in 1828, the Fraser Log Cabin operated as a stagecoach stop on the way to Ursa. It will be used as a pioneer school in the village.
Friends of the Log Cabins plans to host a dedication for the cabin during Frontier Settlement Day on Sept. 12.
