Mr. and Mrs. John M. Peterson of Alexander, Ill., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Saturday, July 4th at their daughter's house, hosted by all of their children.
Mr. Peterson and the former Mary McDannald were married July 18, 1970 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Murrayville, Ill.
John is the son of the late Norval and Josephine Peterson.
Mary is the daughter of the late Hense (Bud) McDannald and Ruth McDannald of Jacksonville, Ill.
They are the parents of Mike (Rachel) of Quincy, Ill.; Bill (fiance, Ashlea Wyant) of Schertz, Tex.; Angie (Ron) Riggle of Springfield, Ill.; Becky (deceased); Sarah (Tim) Leonard of Kirkwood, Mo.; Bob of Jacksonville, Ill.; Emily (Levi) Wilkinson of Fort Hood, Tex.; and Ben (Rachael) of O'Fallon, Ill.
They have 14 grandchildren.
John and Mary met after high school when they both worked for the same business (in different departments). John was infatuated with the pretty girl in another department, and "we're still going!!"
Mr. Peterson is co-owner and operator of Carmedic paintless dent removal, Springfield. He enjoys attending auctions, refinishing furniture and collecting old stuff.
Mrs. Peterson is co-owner and operator of Carmedic paintless dent removal, Springfield. She enjoys being a grandmother to 14 grandchildren, reading, Bible study group and Goodwill shopping.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson are members of Our Saviour Catholic Church, Jacksonville, Ill.
