QUINCY -- Adams County has reported the second COVID-19-related death of a county resident.

The Adams County Health Department on Wednesday announced that a woman in her 90s had tested positive for the virus.

In a statement the department said it offered its condolences to the woman's family and friends.

The Health Department also urged the community to do their part to reduce the spread of the virus to protect their health and the health of others, especially those with chronic health conditions.

"Masking in public spaces, frequent handwashing and staying home when you are sick are important prevention strategies to combat the spread of COVID-19," the Health Department's statement said. "Further, avoiding gatherings that have a significant number of individuals is vital to reducing spread. The likelihood of individuals being exposed to COVID-19 greatly increases when they are in contact with more people in larger gatherings."

This report will be updated.
