LOUISIANA, Mo. -- A teenage boy was seriously injured Tuesday after he reportedly failed to yield to a semi-trailer Monday in Louisiana.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that a 2009 Honda Accord driven by the 16-year-old of Louisiana was heading west at 12:35 p.m. on Kelly Lane when he attempted to cross U.S. 54 and was struck by a 1988 Mack truck driven by Robert E. Nemec, 55, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The teen was taken to Pike County Memorial Hospital by Pike County Ambulance before being airlifted by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital St. Louis for treatment of serious injuries.
The patrol said the teen was not wearing a seat belt.
