APR. 6, 1954 – JUNE 5, 2026

Marianne “Nani” Schutte, 72, of Quincy, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026, at her home in Quincy, IL.

Born April 6, 1954, in Quincy, IL, Nani was the daughter of Semion and Anna (Wurth) Konkow. Her father was born in Russia and her mother was born in Germany, and the two met in Germany during World War II. Nani’s five older siblings were born in Germany, and the family later emigrated to the United States while her mother was pregnant with her. Those early family roots remained an important part of her identity throughout her life, and she carried her heritage with pride.

On June 23, 1978, Nani married Randy Schutte in Quincy, Illinois. He survives. Their marriage was a lasting partnership built on love, loyalty, and shared memories that spanned decades.

Nani is also survived by her daughter, Robin Lease (Bobby); two grandchildren, Brandon and Taylor Lease; and three sisters, Gudrun Terronez, Karin Koontz, and Alexandra Feathering II (Vern). She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Seigfried and Eberhard Jucknies.

In her working years, Nani served as a group leader in PC Boards for Quintron. She was also a Catholic by faith and attended church at St. Francis.

Outside of work, Nani embraced a wide range of interests that reflected her love of life and the world around her. She was an animal lover and cared for several cats and French bulldogs over the years. One of her fondest childhood memories was receiving her horse, Casey, as a Christmas gift after much pleading to her parents. She enjoyed horseback riding and continued caring for Casey well into adulthood, a reflection of the lasting bond she had with animals and the outdoors.

Nani also found joy in nature and took pride in the home she created. She loved tending beautiful rose bushes and was never shy about expressing her dislike when an old tree was cut down. She enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and listening to oldies music, both of which brought her comfort and happiness. She especially treasured her German heritage and was known for preparing traditional dishes, particularly rouladens, which became part of the family’s cherished memories.

Above all else, Nani cherished her family. She loved bringing the extended family together for reunions and creating lasting memories through vacations to Charleston, Pigeon Forge, New Orleans, Memphis, Alabama, Georgia, and many other places. She also appreciated the simpler pleasures of life, including day trips with her family to places such as Cantril and Burlington. Nani’s presence brought comfort, laughter, and love to those around her, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Graveside Service will be at Friday, June 12, 2026, at Woodland Cemetery in Quincy. Pastor Ron Tallcott will officiate. O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home is handling the arrangements.
