QUINCY — A Wednesday night party will celebrate an area priest’s service as he prepares to begin a new assignment.

The Rev. Aaron Kuhn will leave Adams County to serve Mother of Dolors Parish in Vandalia and St. Joseph Parish in Ramsey, beginning July 1.

Kuhn has served since 2020 as pastor of Holy Family Parish in Mount Sterling and St. Thomas the Apostle Parish in Camp Point. He also oversees St. Mary School in Mount Sterling, serves as chaplain at the Western Illinois Correctional Center where he offers a weekend Mass each week, and oversees the Catholic Cemetery in Mount Sterling.

The party, hosted by his family, begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Quincy Notre Dame cafeteria. A meal and soft-serve ice cream will be served. All are welcome, and reservations are appreciated by calling or texting 217-242-5217 or 217-740-7326.

Kuhn, the youngest of Tom and Barb Kuhn’s eight children, was raised on the family dairy farm just outside of Mendon and educated in the Quincy Catholic school system.

He graduated from Quincy University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, then worked in a variety of areas, including the Diocesan Finance Office in Springfield, before entering Mundelein Seminary.

He served as a transitional deacon at St. Brigid in Liberty, St. Joseph in Fowler, and St. Edward in Mendon before being ordained on May 26, 2018, and appointed parochial vicar at the Church of St. Peter in Quincy.
