Alleman too much for QHS to handle in doubleheader sweep

QUINCY — Monday did not go the way Quincy High School softball was hoping.

The Blue Devils lost both ends of Monday’s doubleheader against Western Big 6 Conference foe Alleman, with the Pioneers winning the first game 13-3 and second game 16-0.

The highlight of game one was a three-run home run by Kamryn Hlubek in the top of the fifth inning.

Quincy’s Aubrey Squires went 1-for-2 with a double, while Mia Ellefritz went 1-for-3 with a run.

Blue Devils starting pitcher Izzy Weppler was tagged with the loss in the first game after pitching four innings with three strikeouts.

Quincy’s Maggie Neally went 2-for-3 in the second game, with Avary Hlubek and Kamry Leenerts each had a hit.

Maylee Tipton started game two for the Blue Devils, going six innings.

Up next for QHS (12-17) is a road game against Rock Island (9-16) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, followed by a road game against Geneseo (20-9-1) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
