Mike Sorensen

Mike Sorensen joined the Herald-Whig as a full-time staff writer in December 2020, following previous freelance work reviewing concerts and music. A life-long Quincy resident, Mike graduated from QHS in 1993 and enlisted in the US Army. Following an honorable discharge and a few years living in Georgia, Mike moved back to Quincy where he has been involved with many local charitable events over the last several years. Mike is happily married and has one child, a 2020 Blue Devil graduate.

Deborah Gertz Husar

Deborah Gertz Husar has covered West-Central Illinois and agriculture at The Herald-Whig since 1989. She is a graduate of Knox College and received a master's degree in public affairs reporting from Sangamon State University, now the University of Illinois at Springfield. She is a native of St. Louis.
