Blue Devils keep the line moving to defeat Geneseo

QUINCY — The Quincy Blue Devils just kept having good at bats in Monday’s game against Western Big 6 Conference rival Geneseo.
That was never more evident than in the bottom of the fourth inning when the Blue Devils exploded for nine runs to take the lead on its way to a 15-8 win over the Maple Leafs.
Quincy High leadoff hitter and shortstop Cameron Lawson went 2-for-4 with three runs and two stolen bases.
Blue Devils catcher Mason Ritter went 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, while designated hitter Drake Gibson went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs.
QHS left fielder Mason Dent went 2-for-2 with a double, two walks and two runs, while second baseman Kade Parkhill went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
Blue Devils center fielder Jacob Salisbury went 1-for-4 with a walk, RBI and two runs, while right fielder Logan George went 1-for-2 with a walk, run and two RBIs.
On the mound, right-hander Noah Wells earned the win after going five innings with seven strikeouts, while allowing seven hits, one walk and five earned runs. The QHS starting pitcher also had a double at the plate.
Blue Devils reliever Nick Brown pitched the final two innings and allowed four hits, no walks and three earned runs, along with no strikeouts.
Up next for QHS (17-9-1) is a road game against Geneseo (16-13) at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
