Mr. Steve Dietrich, 66, of rural Camp Point, IL, passed away on May 19, 2026, at 7:58 a.m. at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL, with his wife by his side.
Born on January 12, 1960, in Quincy, IL, Steve was the son of Herbert and Joyce Duesterhaus Dietrich of Camp Point. He married Marla VanZandt on June 20, 1981, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point. She survives.
Steve attended Liberty School and graduated in 1978. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point.
During his working career, Steve was employed at Quincy Compressor and Ready House Services in Chicago and Waukegan, IL. He later co-founded Greater Midwest Builders, LLC, in Waukegan with his business partner. After returning to the Liberty area, Steve established Steve Dietrich Construction. He and his wife purchased the Dietrich family farm in rural Camp Point, where he raised cattle and hay. Steve also sold crop insurance and PRF for AgriSompo.
Survivors include his wife, Marla; his father, Herb; his siblings, Randy (Melissa) Dietrich of Liberty, IL, Bill (Karen) Dietrich of Quincy, Karen (Kent) Kite of Quincy, and Warren Dietrich of Quincy; his brother- and sister-in-law, Melissa (Mark) Tenhouse of Columbus, IL; Marla’s step-siblings, Denise (Greg) Wiewel and Terry Vollbracht, both of Liberty; and his stepmother-in-law, Georgia VanZandt, of Liberty;
He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Jared (Katie) Dietrich, Jordan (Maddie) Dietrich, Joe (Amber) Dietrich, Devin (Allison) Dietrich, Ryan (Jenna) Dietrich, Connor (Madison) Dietrich, Emily Kite, Ethan Kite, Rory Dietrich, Alyssa Dietrich, Alexa Dietrich, and Lacey Tenhouse; several step-nieces and step-nephews; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, including: Wyatt (Callie) Tenhouse, Lily, Mabel, Rylee, Lainey, Claire, and Wynston Dietrich, Hudson McLean, and two on the way.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents; his mother, Joyce; his father-in-law, James G. VanZandt; his mother-in-law, Judy Vollbracht; his stepfather-in-law, Russell “Kent” Vollbracht; his nephew, Bradley Tenhouse; and his great-niece, Jersey Dietrich.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camp Point, with Rev. Aaron Kuhn officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Ridge Cemetery in rural Camp Point.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the St. Thomas Hall in Camp Point.
