Ronald Hugh Triplett, 76, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at Good Samaritan Home in Quincy.
Ron was born November 14, 1949, in Quincy to Wendell and Emma (Whitaker) Triplett, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Quincy Senior High School in 1967 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from Quincy College in 1972, later pursuing graduate studies at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois.
He dedicated many years to Quincy Public Schools, working in maintenance at Baldwin Intermediate School until retirement in 2002. He was known for his strong work ethic and the relationships he built throughout his years of service.
Ron had a lifelong love of baseball, playing through his youth and into adulthood in competitive softball, including at the national level. He enjoyed collecting antiques—especially marbles—attending auctions and estate sales, restoring furniture, fishing, and trivia. He also participated in Quincy Community Theatre productions in the early 1990s. In 1949, he and his identical twin brother were featured in Ripley’s Believe It or Not for a unique coincidence involving twins in the United States and triplets born at the same time in Australia.
Those who knew Ron will remember him as funny, kind, and compassionate. Above all, he was a devoted father, and family meant everything to him.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah (James) Hoebing of Quincy; step-grandson, Brennan Lord; a stepdaughter, Deanna (John) Farrell of St. Louis, Missouri and step grandson Kellan Farrell. A significant other, Becky Hollembeak; brothers Donald (Carolyn) Triplett and Terry (Christine) Triplett, both of Quincy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Gail Triplett; and other beloved relatives.
Ron loved his dogs and treasured time with friends and family.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Ron’s Life at the Elks Lodge in Quincy, IL, on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 PM. Service arrangements are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home.
