Sharon A. Ruffcorn, 77, of Quincy, went to be home with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
Sharon was born February 16, 1949, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Martin and Erna (Altheide) Spory. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was united in marriage to Lewis Ruffcorn on September 2, 1972. Sharon was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy teaching Sunday school, AWANA and singing in the choir.
Sharon started school in a one room schoolhouse in Tioga, Illinois, later graduating from Warsaw High School. From there she attended Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Returning home she enrolled in St. Mary’s School of Nursing, and after graduating began working at St. Mary’s Hospital until the birth of her first son. She then changed her role to mother and housewife. Years later she went back to nursing at the Adams County Health Department, retiring in 2005. She delighted in her sons, daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren. Sharon enjoyed quilting, making many gifts and watching her kids play basketball in school.
Sharon is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, Lewis Charles “Chuck” Ruffcorn of Quincy; sons, Nathan (Abby) of Bloomington, Illinois, Mark (Lindsey) of Mesa, Arizona and Eric (Sarah) of Lewes, Delaware; six grandchildren, Adeleine, Andreana, Madeleine, Sophia, Chaelen and Rinley; her brother, Wayne (Janet) Spory of Sutter; and other nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois, with burial to follow in the Sutter Salem Bible Church Cemetery near Sutter. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Quincy.
