Land of Lincoln tops Show-Me State at senior track meet

PALMYRA, Mo. — Fresh off the state meets, area high school seniors got to compete in their final high school track and field meet on Friday evening as Missouri took on Illinois in their eighth annual meet.
The Land of Lincoln won both the girls and boys sides, with the Illinois girls defeating the Show-Me State 64-46 and the Illinois boys besting Missouri 63-60.
In girls shot put, it was a pair of Clarence Cannon Conference rivals placing at the top, with Monroe City’s Timia Reinberg (10.79) in first and South Shelby’s Charlie Roush (10.71) in second.
Bowling Green’s Jakarri Clark won the boys shot put with a top throw of 14.96, while Camp Point Central’s Brayden Hummer was second and Hannibal’s Jay Arnold was third.
Macomb’s Dakota Thorman won girls discus with a top throw of 36.45, while Reinberg was second (34.45) and Roush was third (33.18).
Clark also won boys discus with a top throw of 46.55.
Three-time Illinois long jump state champion Saylor Barry won the girls long jump with a top jump of 5.62, while Scotland County’s Charlee Holland was second at 5.15.
Central’s Curtis Rigg placed first in boys long jump at 6.56, while his Panthers teammate Tatum Eicken was second at 6.02.
Holland won the girls triple jump at 10.21, while Central’s Faith Alford was second at 9.94.
Eicken won the boys triple jump with a top mark at 12.06.
Highland’s Bailie Crist won the girls javelin with a top throw of 38.79, while Marion County’s Kennedy Hathaway was second at 30.45.
Van-Far’s Evan Utterback placed first in boys javelin with a top throw of 44.93, while Clark was second at 34.13.
Pittsfield’s Jonas Anderson won the boys high jump with a top mark of 5′ 11″, while Rigg was second at 5′ 7″. There was no girls high jump.
There were only two pole vaulters, with Quincy’s Haley McCune having a top mark of 6′ and Rushville-Industry’s Brody Brush at 13′.
In the girls 800-meter run, Central’s Annika Ripperda placed first with a time of 2:37.99 and McCune was second at 2:59.90.
Fresh off a record-breaking Class 2 state meet in Missouri that saw Paris senior Landen Chapman win two races, he placed first in the boys 800-meter run at a time of 2:04.40. South Shelby’s Cooper Seaton was second and Clark County’s Quintin Roach was third.
Central’s Agnes Genenbacher won the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.10, while Hathaway was second and Barry was third.
Central’s Zach Wear won the boys 110-meter hurdles at a time of 16.68, while Beardstown’s Laurenio Marcos was second.
Macomb’s Jordan Hines won the girls 100-meter dash with a time of 12.95, while Holland was second at 13.54.
Knox County’s Cooper Clair finished first in the boys 100-meter dash at a time of 11.23, while Rigg was second at 11.42.
Genenbacher won the girls 400-meter dash with a time of 1:22.25.
Rushville-Industry’s Andrew Fairchild won the boys 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.11, while Roach was second at 1:02.70.
Central’s Annika Ripperda placed first in the girls 1,600-meter run at 6:17.13, while McCune was second.
Chapman won the boys 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:31.60, while Seaton was second at 5:43.28.
Hines won the girls 200-meter dash at a time of 27.29, while Canton’s Sophie Slater was second at 33.43.
Anderson placed first in the boys 200-meter dash with a time of 24.23, while Chapman was second at 24.38.
Illinois won the boys 4×100-meter relay with a time of 44.75, while also winning the girls 4×100-meter relay with a time of 50.17.
