Patti was born April 9, 1964, in Kirkwood, MO to William Fred Parkin and Peggy Kalkbrenner Parkin.

She was married to Brent M. Babyak on June 15, 1985, in St. Louis, MO. He survives.

Other survivors include her mother, Peggy Parkin of Fenton, MO; two children, Meagan Babyak (Jacob Woodward) of Coral Springs, FL, and Andrew “Drew” Babyak (Delaney Dyer) of Arnold, MO; two brothers, Don Parkin (Stephanie) of St. Louis, MO, and Rick Parkin (Cheryl) of New Baden, IL; two sisters-in-law, Andrea Farr (Brad) of Hannibal, MO, and Bonnie Parkin of St. Louis, MO; one granddaughter, Lyla Babyak; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by a close friend, Melinda Wright of Hannibal, MO.

Patti was preceded in death by her father, William Parkin; one brother, Tom Parkin; and one niece, Nicole Parkin.

Professionally, Patti was a well-respected teacher. Throughout her career she taught at St. Francis Catholic School in Quincy, IL, All Saints School in Quincy, IL, and Ellington Elementary School in Quincy, IL. She later retired from Holy Family School where she was a fourth-grade teacher.

Patti lived a life that was marked by kindness, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the people and experiences that brought her joy. She enjoyed traveling and especially treasured a trip to Ireland, where she found delight in the beauty, history, and spirit in all of the places she visited. Patti was also an avid reader who found comfort and enjoyment in the pages of a good book. She especially liked historical fiction, mysteries, and true crime, and she could spend many happy hours absorbed in a story. Reading was one of the many ways she relaxed and stayed engaged with the world, and it reflected her thoughtful nature and her appreciation for learning, suspense, and imagination. At home, Patti enjoyed watching The Waltons, and playing solitaire on her phone. She also enjoyed being a host family for baseball players on the Quincy Gems. She took pride in welcoming them and being part of their experience, and she appreciated the connection that came with opening her home and her heart to others. Above all, Patti valued family and friends. She understood the importance of relationships and the lasting comfort that comes from shared memories, laughter, and companionship. Her life was enriched by the people she loved, and she in turn enriched their lives through her presence, her care, and her steady affection. She was the kind of person who left a lasting impression simply by being herself.

Patti was Catholic by faith and a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Hannibal, MO.

Pallbearers will be Andrew Babyak, Jacob Woodward, Brad Farr, Don Parkin, Rick Parkin, and Tommy Parkin.
