America 250 lecture series continues Wednesday night

QUINCY — The Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County and John Wood Community College continue the America 250 lecture series with a Wednesday night presentation.
Tom Emery, an author and award-winning researcher from Carlinville, will present the lecture on Illinois and the Revolutionary War.
The program, which is free and open to the public, begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium on the JWCC campus, 1301 S. 48th.
Emery is a freelance writer who has lectured across the region and is known for his informal presentations which encourage audience participation. He earned degrees from Blackburn College and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, has earned the Illinois State Historical Society Certificate of Excellence and Award of Superior Achievement and is the author of “The Other John Logan, Richard Rowett: Thoroughbreds, Beagles and the Civil War” and “The Civil War in Illinois.”
