Chuck was born on February 12, 1935, in The Bend, Texas, the son of Floyd Everett and Hazel Irene Gage Bearden. He married the love of his life, Kathleen Lyon, on August 2, 1958. She survives.

Chuck served in the United States Air Force from 1955 until 1958. During his military service, he was a skilled marksman who competed on both the Air Force pistol and rifle teams, earning numerous awards and tournament honors.

Growing up in Texas, Chuck spent his early years working as a ranch hand alongside his father, a ranch foreman. The long days spent working cattle instilled in him a strong work ethic and an appreciation for the outdoors that remained with him throughout his life.

Chuck spent more than 26 years with Moorman Manufacturing Company. He began his career selling feed and steadily advanced through the company, serving as a district manager before moving to Quincy to join the corporate offices. He later worked in advertising and public relations, retiring as the company’s head of public relations.

Outside of work, Chuck enjoyed an active and varied life. He spent many hours hunting, fishing, and trap shooting, and dedicated years to coaching youth football and baseball. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at both Westview Golf Course and Spring Lake Country Club. He also had a love for country music and cooking, taking pride in preparing meals and sharing his favorite recipes with family and friends.
