Teresa Sue Shank, 75, of Brighton, was blessed with a Holy death and took her to rest in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, June 18, 2026.
She was born on November 3, 1950, in Quincy, the daughter of the late Brune Jr. and Dorothea (Aden) Bruns.
Teresa married Jim Shank on July 15, 1978, at St. James Lutheran Church in Quincy. He survives.
She was a blessing in many vocations, especially as a teacher in Quincy, Southwestern Community School District, and Faith Lutheran School. Teresa was a dedicated member of Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey, where she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and participated in LWML. She also sang in Great River Choral Society. Her joyful spirit and loving heart will be remembered by all those who met her.
Teresa is survived by her husband, Jim; two sons, Jonathan (Molly) Shank of University City, MO and Jeffrey Shank (Fiancé Laura Retzer) of Wood River; five grandchildren, Lily, Dani, Drake, August, and Hadley; two sisters Linda Ozley (Jayme Evans) and Julie (Brad) Shepherd; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and fellow church members.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Brune Jr. and Dorothea; stepfather Jim Bolton.
Visitation will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey.
Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey.
Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
