Lavonne Ann Klatt, age 79, of Quincy, died on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 12:30 am in Good Samaritan Home.
Lavonne was born on November 14, 1946, in Quincy, Illinois, a twin daughter of Alvin P. and Alma A. Hoener Klatt.
She graduated from Quincy High School in 1964. She attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri and then graduated from Black Hill State University in Spearfish, South Dakota. Lavonne had a long career in the Quincy Public Schools where she taught English, theater and speech. She also worked with the Quincy Community Theater during her teaching career.
Lavonne was a member of Chapter F PEO, and was a former member of Atlantis.
Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents.
She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Lewella M. “Ella” Sergeant on May 15, 2010. Ella worked in the Employee Benefit Division at Caterpillar, Inc. in Peoria, prior to her retirement on March 1, 2000. Ella enjoyed working in her yard and growing plants of all kinds. She especially loved cooking and sharing with her friends and neighbors.
A graveside service will be held for Lavonne and Lewella at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy.
Graveside Service: 10:30 am on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Greenmount Cemetery, with Chaplain Josh Vahle officiating.
