Mrs. Bonnie Raydene Speckhart, 79, of Camp Point, Illinois, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Bonnie was born on February 7, 1947, in La Prairie, Illinois, to Raymond and Darlene (Griggs) Paben.

She married Wayne Speckhart on November 30, 1984, at the Camp Point United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Clyde Snyder officiating.

Bonnie graduated from Camp Point Central High School in 1965. She later attended Burlington Beauty Academy, where she was a member of the Delta Kappa Ki Sorority.

During high school, Bonnie was active in Future Homemakers of America (FHA), serving as an officer all four years. She was also a member of the GAA and the Houston Hustlers 4-H Club. She was named Courtesy Queen during her sophomore year and was first runner-up in both the Golden Corn Festival Queen Contest and the REA Queen Contest.

Bonnie worked alongside her husband on the family farm throughout her life. She began driving a tractor on the baler at the age of 10 and later operated combines, tractors, and two-ton trucks. She hauled grain to the elevator, transported cattle to the sale barn, ran for parts, and delivered meals to the fields during busy seasons. She truly loved farm life and took great pride in being a farmer’s wife.

Over the years, Bonnie sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry, Avon products, and advertising specialties for Newton Manufacturing Company and Thomas Murphy Company.

She owned Kountry Korners Florist for 22 years and operated Kountry Korners Photography for 15 years.

Bonnie also worked at Royalty Department Store for several years. She later served Camp Point Unit #3 for 14 years as a cook and substitute custodian. Most recently, she served as custodian for the Camp Point United Methodist Church.

Bonnie also volunteered her time with the Community for Christ Assistance Center and Jensen Woods.

She was a devoted member of the Camp Point United Methodist Church, where she served as a Cherub Choir director, Sunday school teacher, church board member, secretary of the building committee, and trustee.

Bonnie loved camping with her family, kayaking, tole painting, crafting, woodworking, and selling her creations at craft shows. She also enjoyed country music and bowling on Tuesday and Friday leagues at Strike & Spare Lanes in Camp Point, as well as bowling in a couples league in Mendon. She loved watching her daughters cheer and compete in queen contests. She also cherished watching her grandchildren participate in beauty pageants, play sports, shoot trap, and show cattle and rabbits at the fair.

One of Bonnie’s greatest joys was camping at the Adams County Fair. Since 1963, she missed only one fair due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Above all, Bonnie loved being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. If you had the privilege of being her friend, you had a friend for life. She was always there for those she loved and was a kind, generous, and selfless person who continually put others before herself.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, Wayne, are her children: Brenda (Boomer) Williams of Coatsburg, Illinois; Dean (Rahna) Schwengel of Camp Point, Illinois; Sherry (Brian) Drew of Fowler, Illinois; and Ashley (Justin) Wolf of Camp Point; her grandchildren: Alex Williams of Camp Point; Adam (Lexi) Williams of Golden, Illinois; Jacob, Caleb, and Layna Clingingsmith of Fowler; Megan (Ian) Florek of Camp Point, and Raeleigh Wolf of Camp Point; her step-grandchildren: Lucas (Olivia) Ayers of Hannibal, Missouri; Janell Ayers of St. Louis, Missouri; Logan Ayers of Chicago, Illinois; Landon Ayers, and Garrett, Isaac, Elaina, and Avery Drew, all of Quincy, Illinois; her great-granddaughter, Sadie Williams; of Golden; her step-great-grandchildren, Thadius, Jackson, and Iris Ayers of Hannibal; her brother, Terry (Connie) Paben of LaPrairie, Illinois; her sister, Sandra (Jim) Carter of Burlington, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Darlene (Griggs) Paben; her paternal grandparents, Henry and Kate (Herren) Paben; and her maternal grandparents, Harry and Josephine (Pickens) Griggs.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Camp Point United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sheri Renner officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Camp Point.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Camp Point United Methodist Church.

As a longtime florist and passionate gardener, Bonnie’s love of flowers was evident throughout her life. Her wish was for her funeral to be filled with flowers, so the family encourages those who wish to send floral tributes to support their local florists. Memorials may also be directed to the Jensen Woods Camp Faith Garden Landscaping Project, where Phase 2 of this project will create a beautiful garden area overlooking the pond behind Dixon Lodge. Knowing that her daughter, Brenda Williams, had helped design and oversee the Faith Garden made this project especially meaningful to Bonnie, and she was thrilled that memorial gifts would help complete it. Memorials may also be made to the donor’s charity of choice.
