MATTOON — First Mid Insurance Group has been named to Business Insurance’s Top 100 U.S. Brokers list for the first time, ranking No. 95 among insurance brokerage firms nationwide.

The annual ranking, published by trade publication Business Insurance, recognizes the country’s largest insurance brokerage firms based on U.S. brokerage revenue and is widely regarded as one of the industry’s leading benchmarks.

“This recognition is a reflection of our outstanding team,” said Clay Dean, chief executive officer of First Mid Insurance Group. “Earning a place among the Top 100 insurance brokers in the nation for the first time is an important milestone, and one our employees should be proud of. While we’re honored to receive this recognition, our focus remains the same: to help our clients protect what matters most by providing the expertise, guidance, and personal service they expect.”

Company officials said the ranking reflects First Mid’s continued investment in its employees, clients, and the communities it serves, as well as its strategy of pairing local relationships with broader industry expertise and risk management services for businesses, organizations, and individuals.

First Mid Insurance Group is a subsidiary of First Mid Bancshares, a Mattoon-based financial services company that also owns First Mid Bank & Trust and First Mid Wealth Management. The insurance arm provides commercial insurance, employee benefits, personal insurance, surety and bonding, retirement plan services, risk management, and claims support.

Founded in 1913, First Mid Insurance Group describes itself as a top-10 bank-owned insurance agency in the country and one of the largest independent brokers in the Midwest, with more than 100 employees working out of offices across Illinois, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

First Mid Bancshares, the parent company, reports roughly $9.2 billion in assets and offers banking, insurance, wealth management, brokerage, and agricultural services through locations in Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Texas, and Wisconsin, along with a loan production office in Indiana.
