Joann Durbin, 88, of Quincy, passed away Friday, July 24, 2026, at Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, IL.

Joann was born February 23, 1938, in Quincy, IL to Clarence and Bessie (Conners) Osborne. She was the oldest of seven children. She was married to Donald R. Durbin Sr. on February 3, 1956, in Quincy, IL. He preceded her in death on July 10, 2018.

Joann worked as a homemaker, and she embraced that role with devotion and care. She built her home around family, and she took great pride in creating a welcoming place for those she loved. She was a Protestant by faith and attended Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene, where her faith remained an important part of her life.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful. Joann loved gardening and grew vegetable and flower gardens. She also had a creative side and enjoyed crocheting, especially making beautiful afghans. In her quieter moments, she liked reading fiction, watching westerns, and doing her daily crossword puzzles. She was also a talented baker, known for making delicious pies, bread, and cookies. Those who knew her well also knew she had a sweet tooth and never passed up a treat she enjoyed.

Joann especially loved spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and treasured the memories made with them over the years. She also enjoyed visiting Branson, Missouri, where she created many wonderful memories with Donald. Above all else, Joann’s greatest joy came from the people she loved, and her family was the center of her world.

Survivors include her daughter, Shelly Holtman (James) of Quincy, IL; five grandchildren, Joshua Holtman (Alissa), Jeremy Holtman, Trey Durbin, Holly Durbin, and Caylee Durbin; three great-grandchildren, Henry Holtman, DJ Harper Jr., and Kahlia Bowen; two sisters, Phyllis Schaefer and Pam Uppinghouse; two brothers, Clarence Conners Jr. and David Conners (Kay); and many nieces and nephews.

Joann was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one infant daughter, Kimberly; two sons, Steven Durbin and Donald Durbin Jr.; and two sisters, Donna Leindecker (Toni) and Connie Powell.

The family would like to thank the employees on the Anna Brown Floor at Good Samaritan Home for the wonderful care and love Joann received these last two years.

Friends and Family are invited to a visitation that will be Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 10:00am to 11:00am at O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Graveside Service will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy. Pastor Martin Eden will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Josh Holtman, Jeremy Holtman, and Jim Holtman.
