Clyde Luther Warning

Cold Spring, MN

Clyde Luther Warning, of Cold Spring, MN, formerly of Camp Point, IL, passed away on July 20, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on December 13, 1938, in Quincy, Illinois. Clyde grew up with many fond memories of life on the family farm just north of Liberty, and of attending school in a one room schoolhouse with his brothers and sisters through 6th grade when he left school to help with the family farm. Clyde proudly served his country in the US Army in Korea, earning the rank of SP4. After his honorable discharge, he completed the education process he started in that one room schoolhouse so many years before and earned his GED.

Clyde worked 44 years as a set-up man and later as a supervisor in Department 444 under one roof for three different wheel manufacturing companies in Quincy, Illinois. First for the Electric Wheel Company. Then a brief period as Can Am Industries and finally retiring in 2004 with Titan Wheel Corporation. Many employees under that roof called Clyde “Dad” and when they were having a rough day, they would often seek him out for his advice. He was fond of Root Beer Barrel candy and one of his favorite things to do when approached by someone having a rough day (co-worker, friend, family or stranger) was to reach into his pocket….produce a hard Root Beer candy….and simply state…”have a root beer barrel, everything will be ok”. This simple act of kindness made an immense impact on his co-workers as evidenced by the large turnout at his retirement party at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Quincy where he was presented with a large wooden stave barrel full of… you guessed it… hard candy Root Beer Barrels. His kindness had come full circle and he was so very proud.

Clyde was proud to be active in the Liberty Lions Club and a farmer…the love he had for his community, the land and his animals was immeasurable. Going to bed each night when the chores were done after the 10:15 PM local weather and rising each morning at 02:45 AM to start his farm day prior to going to work at the manufacturing plant. Ask anyone who knew him…he was a hard man to keep up with.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Frank, Iva May (Russell); his loving wife of over 68 years, Dianne; son, Leslie Dean (at birth); seven sisters, Eleanor (at birth), Alberta (at birth), Marguerite, Martha, Delores, Donna, Charlotte; five brothers, Edward, James, Lloyd, Russell, Wayne; sister in law, Patricia (Billy) McGraw, of Liberty, IL; nephew, Stephen (Vicky) Carlstead, of Georgetown, IL. He is survived by his son, Wesly, of Saint Joseph, MN; two brothers, Carl, of Quincy, IL, Roger, of Liberty, IL.

Dianne and Clyde met at a barn dance outside of Payson, IL, and were married in Quincy, IL, on July 6, 1957. Inseparable from that point on, they were side by side through all of life’s ups and downs and were only separated once. That was when Clyde served his country in the US Army in Korea. They loved to travel and made many lifelong friends while camping in their RV. They especially enjoyed their 20 year “Winter Texan” getaways at El Valle Del Sol in the Texas Valley near Mission, TX. Later in life, they also enjoyed helping their “adopted” son, Jeff Jensen, on his farm in Alexander, Iowa.

The family would like to thank Benedictine Living Community of Cold Spring and Saint Croix Hospice for the care and compassion they showed Clyde in his final days. Also, the many caring and loving in-home care specialist services over the years including Centracare and Advantara of MN.

It was Clyde and Dianne’s wish to be interred together at Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, IL, where Clyde will receive full military honors.
