Bonnie Jo Clark, age 82, formerly of Quincy, IL died in Cape Girardeau, MO, on Monday July 27, 2026.
Bonnie was born August 4, 1943 in Sacramento, California, the daughter of Donald Eugene Orcutt and Dorothy Mae (Mueller) Orcutt. On June 10, 1967 she married Roger Lynn Clark in Center Grove Methodist Church in Dubuque, Iowa He preceded her in death on June 23, 2005.
She was a woman who loved her family dearly. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren.
Bonnie was a 1962 graduate of Dubuque Iowa High School. She attended Morningside College and went on to attain a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1968. The Clarks moved to Quincy in 1968. Bonnie was an art teacher in Quincy public schools from 1968-1975. She graduated from Quincy College in 1982 with a B.A. in Psychology and from Western Illinois University in 1987 with a Masters Degree in Counseling Education. She worked in the social services field for 23 years until her retirement in June of 2005.
Bonnie was a long-time and active member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and was a member of LCW. She was an accomplished artist who painted in the expressionistic style. She won several awards in the Quincy area art show and exhibitions at John Wood Community College, the Quincy Art Center, and at the Mary Oakley Show. Bonnie loved to travel. Her most cherished memories were of romantic getaways with Roger as well as the many vacations with her whole family.
Of all the roles she played throughout her life, Bonnie’s favorite role was being a mother to her three sons. She was a fiercely dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family unconditionally.
Survivors include her brother Tim Orcutt, three sons, Matthew Clark, and wife Jennie of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, David Clark of Eureka, Missouri, Andrew Clark and wife Heather of St Louis, Missouri. Survivors also include six grandchildren: Emma, Dean, Izzy, Josh, Sam, and Beth.
In addition to her husband, Roger, Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Dorothy Orcutt, her husband’s parents Roger and Eleanor Clark, daughter in-law Deeana Clark, and a daughter in-law Kim Clark.
Visitation: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, Monday, August 3, 2026, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Memorial Service: 1:00 pm, Monday, August 3, 2026, at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be in Greenmount Cemetery
