Rusty Leroy Kaylor, 66, of LaGrange, Missouri, passed away at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, following complications from a heart attack.
Rusty was born on October 9, 1959, to Ernest Teed and Betty Lou Hilbert. He was the ninth of thirteen children. After graduating from Highland High School in 1978, he entered the workforce and held various local jobs throughout his life, including positions with R.L. Hoener and Bleigh Ready Mix.
Rusty was the proud father of one son, Cody Kaylor. Cody and his wife, LeAnne, blessed him with two grandchildren, Rayland, age 8, and Hanley, age 7. Rusty cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, often picking them up for the day and treating them to trips to McDonald’s. The children adored spending time with him on the farm and visiting family members together.
He took great pride in keeping his lawn neatly mowed and enjoyed listening to classic country music. During retirement, Rusty devoted much of his time to helping family members and providing transportation whenever it was needed. His generosity, dependability, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
Rusty is survived by his son, Cody (LeAnne) Kaylor, and grandchildren, Rayland and Hanley, all of Canton; Siblings Ernie (Judy) and Kenny (Linda) of Hannibal; David, Sandra Todd (“Shag”), Steve (Shirley Green), Bobby, Shirley (Rod Clausen) of La Grange; Sharon Cary (Keith) of Lewistown; Diann (Donnie Stahl) and Glen of La Grange. Sisters-in-law Dema Hilbert widow of Gary Hilbert, and Sheila Kaylor, widow of Richard Kaylor. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Teed and Betty Lou Kaylor, and by his brothers, Gary Hilbert and Richard Kaylor.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Gateway Cremation in St. Louis.
A celebration of Rusty’s life will be held at his home in rural LaGrange—the house where he grew up as a child—on Sunday, August 9, from noon to 3:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join together for a meal, music, memories, and fellowship. In true Rusty fashion, guests are encouraged to scratch a few lottery tickets, enjoy a Pepsi, and share stories as they remember a life well lived.
