QUINCY — The Empowered Aging Series will continue Aug. 11 at 5:30 p.m. with a presentation on senior living options and planning ahead, titled “The Truth About Assisted Living: Understanding Senior Living, Memory Care & Planning Ahead.”
The free, public event will be held at Quincy Worx, 3701 East Lake Center, Suite 1. It will be presented by Jennifer, a family advocate at Bickford Senior Living, whose full name was not provided in event materials.
The session is intended to help families and community members understand the differences between assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing options, as well as the importance of planning ahead before a health crisis occurs. Topics will also include how social engagement and a sense of purpose affect quality of life, what happens when a person’s care needs change over time, and how additional support, including hospice care, can factor into the aging process.
“Senior living is not about taking away independence,” Jennifer said in a statement. “It is about providing support, connection, and opportunities for older adults to continue living meaningful lives.”
The Empowered Aging Series offers ongoing educational programming for older adults, families, caregivers, and community members on topics related to aging, wellness, and available resources. Attendees are encouraged to bring questions.
