QUINCY — A Quincy man was arrested Tuesday after leading police on a foot pursuit in the area near the Quincy Family YMCA.
According to the arrest report from the Quincy Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North 33rd Street for a report of a possibly homeless person on private property. When officers arrived, a man later identified as Luis M. Romo, 34, fled from police after being ordered to stop, fleeing into the wooded area around the creek that runs between businesses on Maine Street and those along Broadway such as Staples and RP Lumber.
During the pursuit, officers reported that Romo shoved one officer while evading arrest. QPD, with the assistance of deputies from the Adams County Sheriff’s Department and troopers from the Illinois State Police, secured a perimeter and successfully deployed a Taser to take Romo into custody.
After being treated for minor injuries at Blessing Hospital, Romo was booked into the Adams County Jail on charges of resisting or obstructing a peace officer and aggravated battery to a peace officer.
