Two Quincy men arrested following task force search warrant efforts

QUINCY — Two Quincy men were arrested following search warrants being executed, including one on a Maine Street business.
Agents with the West Central Illinois Task Force (WCITF) arrested Jaret T. Shear, 25, and Israel N. L. Gordon, 21, both of Quincy, on multiple drug charges.
WCITF is made up of officers from various law enforcement agencies including the Illinois State Police, Quincy Police Department, and Adams County Sheriff’s Department. Task Force agents executed warrants at two residences in the 1500 block of Zellerman Avenue, one residence in the 5300 block of Lyter Road, and one business, the KB Co., in the 600 block of Maine Street. The two men were taken into custody at one of the Zellerman Avenue residences.
Shear was charged with: cannabis delivery of more Than 5,000 grams, a Class X felony; cannabis production 50-200 plants a Class 2 felony; possession of cocaine a Class 4 felony; possession of controlled substance, a Class 1 felony; and Possession of Psilocybin Mushrooms a Class 4 felony.
Gordon is facing charges of possession of cannabis 10 to 30 grams, a Class B misdemeanor and unlawful use of a weapon, a Class A misdemeanor.
During the searches of the four locations, WCITF agents found more than 20 pounds of black-market cannabis, more than 80 grams of cocaine, more than 200 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, firearms ammunition, and a large amount of United States currency.
Shear and Gordon were transported to the Adams County Jail. Following detention hearings for each man on Wednesday, Gordon was released on pretrial conditions pending further court proceedings. Prosecutors petitioned to have Shear held in custody ahead of future court dates, a request that was granted at the hearing.
The WCITF was assisted by the ISP Troop 6 and the Illinois Department of Revenue.
