QUINCY — No injuries have been reported as of Friday in a shooting incident early Thursday morning as law enforcement continues to investigate.

The Quincy Police Department reported Friday that officers were dispatched just before 1 a.m. on Thursday to the 1400 block of State Street where callers reported a group of people fighting and possible gunshots. Once on scene, officers were unable to locate any groups of people or evidence of a shooting on initial check of the scene.

Just before 8 a.m. Thursday, a resident in the area reported damage to their home that appeared to be the result of the shots-fired report. QPD officers and the department crime scene technician were dispatched and investigated the damage and located shell casings and live ammunition in the area.

Investigators were contacted Thursday afternoon from a parent that reported their child’s car appeared to have been damaged by gunfire. Following the processing of the vehicle for evidence, investigators continued to follow up on additional leads and information. As of Friday morning, QPD reports that the damage to both the residence and the car are believed to be related to the original fight and shots-fired call.

No injuries have been reported that appear to be related to the calls. QPD continues to investigate and urges anyone with information on the incident to contact the department directly at 217-228-4470 or to submit an anonymous tip through the Quincy Regional Crime Stoppers on the web at quincycrimestoppers.com or at 217-228-4474.
