Mayor seeks community input on qualities for Quincy’s next police chief

QUINCY — Mayor Linda K. Moore is asking residents to weigh in on a community survey aimed at helping shape the profile of Quincy’s next chief of police.

While the city’s Board of Fire & Police Commission holds responsibility for appointing the next chief, Moore said resident input can help identify the qualities and leadership traits the community values most as the search moves forward.

“The chief of police plays a vital role in the safety and well-being of our community,” Moore said. “This survey gives residents an opportunity to share the qualities, experience, and leadership style they believe are important as we begin the search for Quincy’s next police chief. I encourage everyone to participate and help us build a candidate profile that reflects the values of our community.”

The survey asks residents to weigh in on the characteristics, priorities, and professional experience they think the next chief should have. City officials said responses will be shared with the Board of Fire & Police Commission to help inform the development of a candidate profile as recruitment continues.

The survey is open through Friday, Aug. 7.
