Two Quincy Hy-Vee employees honored on semi-trailer for decades of service

QUINCY — Two longtime Quincy Hy-Vee employees are now featured on the side of a semi-trailer, a company tradition recognizing workers who have dedicated more than 40 years to the grocery chain.

John Huston, retail product and pricing manager at the Harrison Street Hy-Vee, and Phil Sloup, produce department manager at the Broadway Street Hy-Vee, had their photos unveiled on trailers outside their respective stores Tuesday.

Hy-Vee began featuring long-tenured employees on semi-truck wraps in 1997, and the practice has since become an established tradition at the employee-owned company.

Hy-Vee operates more than 560 stores across nine Midwestern states and reports more than $14 billion in annual sales. The company, which employs more than 70,000 people, was recently named one of the top grocery chains in the country by USA Today.
