Quincy driver charges with criminal damage to government property after Sunday crash

QUINCY — A Quincy man is facing charges of reckless driving and more after causing substantial damage at the Quincy Regional Airport on Sunday morning.

Sean E. Zanger, 19, of rural Quincy was arrested following an investigation into reports of damage to the perimeter fence at the airport, along with other damage near the main terminal.

The damage did not cause any disruption of flight service at the airport. Airport Director Bill Lantz thanked law enforcement as well as his own staff for the work finding a suspect in the investigation.

“We are grateful for the quick response of the Quincy Police Department and our airport staff,” Lantz said. “The safety and security of our passengers, tenants, and operations remains our highest priority, and we are pleased there was no disruption to scheduled flights.”

Police were dispatched to airport around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday. With the use of automated license plates camera systems installed in the city and county, QPD investigators were able to identify a red Ford F250 truck as being involved in the property damage.

Zanger was identified as the driver of the Ford and was taken into custody and lodged in the Adams County Jail on charges of criminal damage to government property between $10,000 and $100,000, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, and reckless driving.

At an initial court hearing on Monday, defense attorney Kevin Bross was entered as representing Zanger, with a next court appearance set for Wednesday morning.

QPD was assisted in the investigation and arrest by the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
