Applications open for children’s oral health grants

NAPERVILLE — The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation has opened applications for its annual Community Grants Program, which provides funding to organizations working to improve dental care and education for children across Illinois.
Organizations that provide dental services, education or preventive care to children may apply for a one-year grant of up to $20,000. To qualify, applicants must offer programs benefiting Illinois children, maintain a physical presence in the state, and either be a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit or a public or governmental entity, such as a school or health department.
Applications and detailed guidelines are available through the foundation’s website. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Sept. 11, and grant recipients will be announced in November.
Last year, the foundation awarded grants totaling more than $270,000 to 29 local nonprofit and community organizations, supporting programs that served nearly 45,000 children statewide. Since the grant program’s launch in 2012, the foundation has awarded more than 220 grants totaling over $2 million.
The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation was established in March 2008 as the charitable arm of Delta Dental of Illinois, a not-for-profit dental service corporation. Over the past decade, the foundation and its parent organization have together provided more than $32 million to programs and organizations aimed at improving oral health for an estimated 1.2 million Illinois residents.
