Your Turn/Tim Woodward

When I was a kid, I wanted to be … the shortstop for the St. Louis Cardinals. Cardinals games on television and the radio were a staple of my childhood.
What would you rather be doing right now? Either out on the water or on a golf course.
Shhhhhh! Don’t tell anyone that … I am almost incapable of finishing a television series. I normally can make it through a season or two, but after that, I lose interest. So, I normally revert to watching “The Office” or “Seinfeld” for the hundredth time.
Other than your wedding day and/or the birth of your children, what was your proudest moment? Nothing makes me prouder than hearing people say good things about my parents. I already knew how fortunate I was in that category, but I especially love hearing stories about them that I’ve never heard before.
It really stinks when … people yell at referees during youth sporting events. I hate to tell you; they don’t care who wins.
What word in the dictionary would your face be next to? Active. I am not very good at sitting still.
I always laugh when … my daughter does something that reminds me of myself as a kid.
Invite any three people, living or dead, to dinner. Who are they? My late father, my wife and my daughter. He passed before they were able to meet him. It would be great to have them all together.
At the end of a really long day at work, I like to … sit on the couch with Megan, watch a stand-up comedy special and have a bowl of popcorn.
People who knew me in high school thought I was … competitive.
My most unforgettable brush with greatness was … A few years ago, I went to the Masters with some of my best buddies. We spent about an hour standing 15 yards away from Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy chipping and putting.
I would drop all my plans tonight if I had the chance to … go to Scotland and play the Old Course.
If someone gave me a million dollars, there is STILL no way I would … It sounds crazy, but I just don’t think I could become a Cubs fan.
America should be more concerned about … focusing on the things within our control. So much attention goes toward national and global issues that we often neglect the things we can directly impact in our own lives and communities.
I’m OK if there’s ever a national shortage of … hats. Which is ironic, because I don’t even wear them that often.
When I’m on the Internet, I always go to … wsj.com (Wall Street Journal). When people go to you for banking and financial advice, you owe it to them to be as up-to-date as possible on the topic.
What is the most useful piece of advice you have ever received? “Winners never quit, and quitters never win.” – Mike Elbe, circa John Wood Community College basketball camps 20 years ago.
When I’m cruising down the road, I’m likely listening to … I spend most of my time on phone calls, but I’m a faithful listener to “The Bill Simmons Podcast.”
I always get sentimental when … I look back at old pictures, especially of Georgia when she was younger. That always makes life seem a little too fast.
The older I get, the more I realize … how much I still don’t know. My curiosity has grown tremendously over the years.
If I had one “do-over,” I would … not change anything out of fear that I wouldn’t end up with the life I have now. Although, there are definitely a few golf shots I’d like to have back.
My favorite item of clothing is … shoes, without question. As a kid, I spent hours flipping through Eastbay magazines.
If I’ve learned anything at all … it’s important to push yourself beyond your comfort zone.
