Rough third inning dooms Blue Devils in regional semifinal loss to Collinsville

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — A nine-run third inning by Collinsville doomed the Quincy Blue Devils, with the Kahoks defeating Quincy High 12-3 in Wednesday’s Class 4A Edwardsville Regional semifinal game.
After Collinsville’s nine-run outburst in the top of the third inning, the Blue Devils plated a pair of runs after Logan George and Kade Parkhill scored on an Kakoks error.
Quincy scored one more run in the fourth inning after Parkhill drove in Drake Gibson.
Collinsville scored a run in the fifth inning and two more in the seventh.
George went 2-for-2 with a walk, double and a run, while QHS left fielder Jacob Salisbury went 2-for-4 with a stolen base.
The Blue Devils committed an uncharacteristic five errors, which led to nine unearned runs.
QHS starting pitcher James Day was tagged with the loss after pitching two innings with two strikeouts, while allowing eight hits, no walks and one earned run.
The Blue Devils used Chase Saalborn, Cameron Lawson and Shane Pillars in relief.
QHS finishes the 2026 season with a 20-13-1 record, the first 20-win season by the Blue Devils since 1997.
