QUINCY — An Adams County jury found a Quincy man guilty on drug and weapons charges following a one-day trial on Tuesday.
Wesley D. Bowen, 64, of Quincy was found guilty on all charges, including armed violence, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of a controlled substance.
Adams County State’s Attorney Todd Eyler prosecuted the case, providing evidence that Bowen was arrested on March 12 when officers with the Quincy Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit executed a search warrant at Bowen’s residence in the 600 block of Ohio Street.
Eyler told the jury that the officers located just under eight grams of methamphetamine and just under 10 grams of morphine along with digital scales, small baggies, and a large amount of cash, all items consistent with drug distribution.
Officers also found a stun gun in the residence, which is a prohibited weapon since Bowen was convicted of a felony in 2018.
Bowen will be sentenced at a hearing on Aug. 7. He is facing up to 30 years in prison on the armed violence conviction as a Class X felony. The drug possession and weapon charge could add as much as 25 more years to any sentence.
Eyler expressed his gratitude to the QPD investigations unit for their work in combating the sale and distribution of illegal drugs in Quincy.
