QUINCY — A change in Quincy High School (QHS) leadership has a familiar face returning to an assistant principal role.
Kris Klingele shifts from QHS athletic director to assistant principal — the same job she held until the 2024-25 school year — after Megan Williams departed for another job.
“I love being an AD. I have definitely enjoyed it very much. I do like the other side of the educational part of it and look forward to getting back to that,” Klingele said.
“Just being back working with the teachers, working with the students. The priorities will be everything curriculum and instruction.”
Klingele expects the summer to be busy with preparations for the 2026-27 school year, starting with Freshman Day, which gives incoming students a day in the building with staff before sophomores, juniors, and seniors start classes.
In the meantime, though, she remains in the AD role until that position is filled.
“They want me to do one job at a time. We’ll finish this one before we jump into that one,” Klingele said, but when that will happen, “I can’t even give you an estimate or a guess at this point.”
Williams offered little advice to her successor.
“I’ve worked with this person very closely for the last seven years,” she said. “They know what they’re doing. They’re very familiar with the position already.”
Williams leaves QHS for a job as director of school counseling at a school in Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
“I’m going back to the roots. I’m a counselor by trade, and while I’m not going to be counseling, I’ll be the administrator over the counseling departments at that district,” Williams said.
Williams moved into administration after spending five years as a counselor at QHS.
“It’s been a wonderful seven years,” Williams said. “The school is great. The community is great. The people are great. One thing I will definitely take away is the relationships I built. I will always sing my Quincy praises, always bleed a little blue.”
