QUINCY — State lawmakers are teaming up once again to host a community school supply drive to assist families and students ahead of the upcoming academic year.
State Rep. Kyle Moore, State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer, and State Sen. Jil Tracy announced Monday that the joint initiative will run through Aug. 3. Community members are encouraged to donate essential classroom items, including backpacks, notebooks, pencils, crayons, folders, glue sticks, and scissors.
Organizers noted that the annual drive is designed to ease the financial burden inflation and back-to-school shopping can place on household budgets.
“Preparing for a new school year can be a financial challenge for many families,” Moore said in a statement. “By working together, we can help ensure local students have the supplies they need to start the school year ready to learn. Every donation makes a difference.”
Donations can be dropped off at two designated legislative district offices across the region. Collection bins are located at Moore’s primary office, 3601 E. Lake Centre Drive, Suite 200, in Quincy, as well as his secondary location at 325 W. State St., Suite 102, in Jacksonville.
Area residents seeking more information or with questions regarding acceptable donation items can reach out directly to the Quincy legislative office at 217-223-0833.
