QUINCY — Earlier this month, a Quincy-based technology company rolled out a new digital receptionist system to help companies better manage customer service operations.
United Systems, Inc. of Quincy created an artificial intelligence-driven reception solution the company says will help manage incoming call volumes and improve customer experience.
“Business owners don’t want callers sitting on hold, getting voicemail, or struggling through complicated phone menus,” Mike Melton, president of United Systems, said. “They want customers to get answers quickly and reach the right person without frustration. That’s exactly what artificial intelligence is designed to do.”
Businesses see missed calls as missed opportunities, whether it’s a new customer making a first contact or a client or vendor calling after hours. United Systems’ new solution proposes to relieve those pressures by crafting a virtual “front desk,” available at all hours every day.
According to a release announcing the new application, the AI receptionist will also improve on standard phone menu prompts. The new system interacts with callers, understands common questions, and helps route people to the appropriate department or employee, so clients are served correctly the first time.
“Many employees spend a surprising amount of time answering the same questions over and over again,” Melton said. “When those routine calls are handled automatically, staff can focus on serving customers, solving problems, and growing the business.”
The technology promises to be especially valuable for businesses that receive a large volume of repetitive phone calls across multiple locations or that want to provide after-hours coverage without adding additional staff.
“For business owners, the value is straightforward: answer more calls, improve customer experience, and allow employees to focus on the work that matters most,” Melton said.
United Systems is marking 40 years in Quincy this year, specializing in improving technology and service experiences for a wide array of businesses.
