Ohio man injured in overnight semi crash on US 36

MONROE CITY — An Ohio truck driver suffered minor injuries early Thursday morning after his semi-truck slid off the highway and overturned in Ralls County.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at 1:40 a.m. on U.S. 36, approximately 5 miles east of Monroe City, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol incident report.

Authorities said a 42-year-old man from Columbus, Ohio, was driving a westbound 2016 Western Star semi-truck when the vehicle slid off the roadway. The truck overturned and came to rest in the highway median.

The driver was wearing a safety device at the time of the crash. He sustained minor injuries and was transported by Ralls County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital for treatment.

The Western Star semi-truck was considered a total loss and was towed from the scene by Heartland Towing.

The Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Monroe City Fire Department, the Ralls County Sheriff’s Office, and Ralls County Ambulance.
