Saukees unable to hold lead, fall to Williamsville in regional semifinals

WILLIAMSVILLE, Ill. — It was a promising start for Pittsfield in its playoff opener.
The finish ended with disappointment for the Saukees, who fell to Williamsville 7-3 in the Class 1A Williamsville Regional semifinal game on Thursday.
The Saukees scored all three of their runs in the first inning, with Knox Dunham singling home Hayden Gratton and Brody Tomhave hitting a two-run home run.
Williamsville countered with a two-run bottom of the first inning and took the lead in the fifth after plating three runs, and scored two more in the sixth.
Tomhave went 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs at the plate for Pittsfield, while Kaden Ferguson went 1-for-3 with a walk and Gratton went 1-for-4 with a run.
Saukees starting pitcher Bobby Harris took the loss after pitching five innings with four strikeouts, while allowing six hits, three walks and two earned runs. Tomhave pitched an inning in relief and allowed two earned runs.
Bullets starting pitcher Gage Ratliff earned the win after pitching seven innings with six strikeouts, while allowing eight hits, one walk and three earned runs.
Williamsville first baseman Brenton Trickey went 2-for-4 with a run, while right fielder Peyton Casson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Pittsfield finishes the 2026 season with a 22-13 record.
