Hannibal man escapes injury in crash

BATES CITY, Mo. — A Hannibal man escaped injury in a three-vehicle crash in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said a 2023 Volvo driven by a 28-year-old Hazlehurst, Ms., man, a 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor driven by a 56-year-old Mayview woman and a 2024 Freightliner driven by a 48-year-old Hannibal man were heading west at 10:35 a.m. Monday on Interstate 70.

When the front of the Volvo struck the rear of the Mitsubishi, the patrol said its passenger side struck the rear of the Freightliner while the Volvo traveled off the right side of the road.

The Volvo’s driver was taken by Sni Valley Emergency Medical Services to Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence with moderate injuries. The Mitsubishi’s driver was taken by EMS to Research Medical Center in Kansas City with serious injuries.

The patrol was assisted by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.
