Police, Park District investigating battery report from Moorman Park

QUINCY — Investigators with the Quincy Police Department are working with Quincy Park District personnel to identify suspects who reportedly attacked two people at Moorman Park last week.

Police officers were dispatched to Blessing Hospital just before 11:30 p.m. on June 4 to meet with two individuals being treated for injuries suffered in a suspected battery. The victims told officers they were playing basketball at Moorman Park until about 8 p.m., when they were attacked by several individuals.

Both victims were treated for their injuries and released. Officers collected evidence from the scene, including video of the incident, and the investigation remains ongoing.

The police department is continuing to coordinate with the park district on this specific case, as well as on broader efforts to better address security concerns throughout the Quincy park system. Authorities urge anyone who witnesses suspicious or criminal behavior on any park property to call 911 to report the activity immediately.
